MISSION AND HISTORY
Jazz is NOW! is a Minneapolis-based nonprofit that presents new music. It primarily exists to support the NOWnet, one of the premier jazz ensembles in the Midwest and one of the few groups in the country solely dedicated to composing and performing new music. Jazz is NOW! was incorporated in December 2003 and launched with a performance by Wynton Marsalis and his quintet. Over the past six years, we have presented numerous performances by our NOWnet and by acclaimed local and national musicians across the Twin Cities. We have partnered nationally with Jazz at Lincoln Center and Palmetto Records, and locally with the Illusion Theater, Zenon Dance Company, MacPhail School for Music and others. Past national performers Jazz is NOW! has hosted include Wynton Marsalis, Wessell Anderson, Ted Nash, David Berkman, Matt Wilson, Stanley Crouch and Todd Reynolds.
